This book contains three sections and provides a detailed introduction of the latest research and development achievements in the basic properties, preparation processes, and applications of polymer matrix composites, metal matrix composites, and inorganic non-metal matrix composites in China, which represent the advanced level of science and technology in China.

After receiving the doctoral degree in engineering awarded by Tohoku University,Chen Lidong served successively as the chief engineer at RIKEN,a special researcher at National Aerospace Laboratory(NAL)of Japan,a visiting scholar at Department of Physics,University of Michigan,the US,as well as an associate professor at the Institute for Materials Research,Tohoku University.Since 2014,he has been working at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics,Chinese Academy of Sciences.In 2003,his research was supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.In 2004,he was rated as an outstanding returned overseas Chinese scholar in Shanghai.He is currently serving as a researcher at Shanghai Institute of Ceramics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,a board member of International Thermoelectric Society(ITS),and the chairman of Asian Association of Thermoelectrics(AAT).陈立东,1960年生,日本东北大学获工学博士学位。先后在日本RIKEN株式会社(Chief Engineer)、日本航空宇宙技术研究所(特别研究员)、美国密西根大学物理系(访问学者)、日本东北大学金属材料研究所(助手,副教授)任职和工作。2001年进入上海硅酸盐研究所工作,2003年获国家杰出青年基金资助,2004年获得上海市优秀留学回国人才奖。现任中国科学院上海硅酸盐研究所研究员、国际热电学会理事会理事,亚洲热电联盟主席。
